LettsSafari in 2021: Starting a Wild Movement
www.plus.lettssafari.com

2021 was meant to be a quiet launch year for LettsSafari. Fresh out of the LettsGroup incubator programme we launched LettsSafari.com in limited beta in June. Which means a limited launch to a closed number of subscribers in our network - no advertising, no outreach programme - you get it.

The idea was to run the limited beta for six months - to the end of this year. Carefully analysing the feedback while calibrating the offering and the technology so we would be ready to launch in public beta during 2022.

You said you wanted wider screen photos so we gave them to you

But, something happened. Our early cohort of subscribers came on board much earlier than we expected and started to spread the word. You have been busy telling your family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues about LettsSafari. It was not long before our private beta was over subscribed and we started to get lots of feedback.

So we focused on enhancing the offering - early. We started implementing features we had planned for our 2022 product road map.

For example, you said that you loved our updates ‘straight from the park’ and would enjoy more video and more wildlife photos. So we launched two dedicated channels at LettsSafari + for Wild TV and Wildlife Photos.

Wild places - wildlife photos!

Following this you said that you wanted wider wrap around photos to really enhance the experience, so we made that happen. See a recent update from the park below.

A Winter Safari Garden
Safari gardens are spectacular in the winter. Cold, crisp, frost-scattered mornings shine pale yellow flashes of sunrise over an abundant landscape shimmering with wild grasses alongside brush and sculpted, gnarly trees clutching onto their last remaining crimson leaves…

[Going forwards you will want to follow the link in our email updates to the LettsSafari + website to get the full wide screen experience].

You also told us that you wanted to learn more about safari gardens and rewilding techniques and projects. So we launched dedicated channels for that too.

But then something even more extraordinary happened. You contacted us to tell us that you were starting rewilding projects of your own and would like to join the LettsSafari Network of parks. So we started to add more parks to the network. First two of our own:

Letts Safari +
Dawlish Park - Letts Safari's First Safari Park
Dawlish Park is Letts Safari’s first safari park, which was announced when we launched LettsSafari.com in June 2021. It is a 75 acre park at Letts Safari’s centre for rewilding in Mamhead Park, on the outskirts of Exeter. This special place is a model for rewilding safari parks and has achieved a number of firsts. The eco park removes around 75 tonnes o…

Then we added two other parks including the most recent - Hill Crest.

Hill Crest Rewilding Park Joins Letts Safari
Hill Crest is the latest rewilding park to join the Letts Safari Network of parks. Kate Morley’s family farm, on the edge of Dartmoor, has turned to smaller-scale rewilding to restore its natural biodiversity and remove carbon. She has joined Letts Safari to further develop this exciting project…

You also started sharing LettsSafari with more urban dwellers and they asked us how they could learn about urban rewilding and creating mini LettsSafari’s in the city. So, very soon, we will be launching a new series on ‘Urban Rewilding’ led by Sebastian Letts, the eighth generation of the eponymous diary family. It is timely given that Sadiq Khan has just announced a new rewilding fund for London.

Sebastian Letts will be leading our new series on ‘Urban Rewilding’

It is so important to expand the LettsSafari Network of parks across the UK. We are amazed by the difference that the current LettsSafari Network is making in the southwest of England. The ripple effect, raising awareness and understanding about rewilding, and the consequent growth in new renewable nature initiatives has been quite surprising. Bringing hope for the future. Because we all deserve a better planet.

If you have suggestions for how we can improve the Letts Safari experience - drop it in a comment.

In between all this we have been busy planting trees and releasing wildlife. And the team have been working hard to continue to bring you a front row seat at our LettsSafari Parks - online. That way we can keep LettsSafari parks for carbon removal, nature restoration and the amazing, endangered wildlife!

We would like to thank you all for supporting LettsSafari and for spreading the word. Now that we are at the end of the limited beta you can spread the word as much as you like. Just forward your LettsSafari email update or click the ‘SHARE’ button.

We would also like to thank the amazing team at LettsSafari for all their hard work over the last few years getting LettsSafari ready for its beta launch. And we would like to thank our wildlife photographer in residence, Louise Kear, and our wild filmmaker in residence, Jem McCluskey. They make a real difference.

Last, we thank LettsGroup for their unwavering support. Their Media-as-a-Service (MaaS) innovation and their work to support natural climate solutions has made LettsSafari possible.

We have many more exciting developments planned for 2022 and more LettsSafari parks brewing in the background that will be added to the LettsSafari Network in 2022 and 2023. Never has it been more important to do something about climate change - one tree, one animal, one new rewilding park at a time.

We wish you all very happy holidays and hope that you have a wonderful end to the year. Stay safe, stay warm and stay wild!

If you’ve not yet been able to subscribe to Letts Safari during our limited beta - you can now! Our subscriber limits have been unlocked.
