We are fast approaching the time of year when Letts Safari parks brim with newborn wildlife. Dancing, singing, wrestling and screeching! There’s nothing like being born in the wild.

We thought we would celebrate some of last year’s youngsters - now strong, active and boisterous teenagers. It might help us to get in the mood for spring. Soon our wildlife photographers will be under cover capturing this year’s new arrivals.

“Why is she holding me?”

First up the Soay. These rare herbivores generally birth in April. The mothers go deep into the cover of woodland or scrub a day or two prior to giving birth and for a few days after. They are extremely protective of their young - so we approach with caution!

“OK, I’m ready to go now!”

“I can walk on my own you know!”

This baby fallow fawn is the first new born captured on camera this year. It is hard to imagine being more chilled out than this little one.

“Strangers coming. Where’s mum?”

This was one of last year’s!
